Herbert David Ruttenberg, M. D. died September 22, 2012 In Virginia.
He was born on June 14, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA. His parents were Edward and Goldene Ruttenberg. As a young man the family moved to Southern California. He attended UCLA for his undergraduate and medical degrees. In addition, Herb attended the University of Minnesota and University of Washington. Two years were spent serving in the U. S. Air Force as a Pediatrician. Herb got his degree in Pediatric Cardiology and worked as director of the Pediatric Catherization laboratory at UCLA . In 1968 Herb and family moved to Salt Lake City and he worked at Primary Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Cardiology Department.
Herb is survived by his loving wife, Susan and his Daughters, Kathleen Ruttenberg, Carolyn Ruttenberg, Loretta Ruttenberg, Stepsons Christian Waller and Carter Waller, Grandchildren Hilary Steinberg, Elena and Luke Ravizza, Penelope Lehn and Milana Waller. He was pre-deceased by his oldest daughter Julia Ruttenberg and his stepdaughter Tamara Wright. Herb was a musician and played with a band named "The Greatful Meds", The Wasatch Symphony, Judge Memorial High School and various churches in the Salt Lake and Park City areas. Herb held various administrative positions in the medical field and held clinics in surrounding states. Herb was a ski doctor at Deer Valley on Sundays. In addition to his love of music he was an avid sportsman and ran 24 marathons, did scuba diving and was a big sports fan of The Jazz.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Park City.
