Jack Finlinson

Oak City, UT-Jack Finlinson, age 68, died at his home in Oak City, Utah on October 4, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Delta, Utah on September 9, 1944 to Marvin and Elva Finlinson, the third of seven children. He grew up in Oak City - the greatest place on earth. Attended local schools and one year at the College of Southern Utah. He was drafted into the Army and served two years in Germany. Occupations included farmer, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, and transportation official for the Millard County School District. He volunteered thousands of hours as Oak City fire chief and in other civic positions. He loved his family and serving in the Manti LDS Temple. His 68 years were filled with service to his community, his church, and his family.
Jack is survived by his best friend and wife, Valene Shields Finlinson and four children: Patrick (Melanie) Finlinson, Heidi (Russ) Western, Holli (Jed) Morris, and Wade (Misty) Finlinson. Also survived by four brothers and one sister. Preceded in death by a son, Jeb, his parents, and a sister.
Funeral: Thursday, October 11, 2012, 11 am at Oak City LDS Chapel. Viewing: Wednesday evening, 6-8 pm, at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center, Delta, and prior to the services, 9-10:40 am at the church. Burial Oak City Cemetery.
