James Christopher Harte(1926 - 2014)

1926 ~ 2014
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend James Christopher Harte passed away January 31, 2014 from accidental injuries sustained while on vacation.
He was the son of Irish immigrants, Roseanne Sheerin Harte and John James Harte, born on December 10, 1926 Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Boston attending both Boston College High School and Boston College where he graduated with a degree in Physics. During World War II he served in the US Navy Pacific Theatre. He married Alice Louise Jacobs on June 16, 1951 at St. John's Catholic Church Roxbury, Massachusetts. They have 8 children. Jim started his career at Sperry Gyroscope and he spent 38 years working in the Aerospace/Defense industry retiring in 1988 as Vice President and General Manager Communications Systems Division of Unisys Corporation in Salt Lake City. He served many years on the scholarship board for the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City. Dad was a Red Sox fan and an avid reader of non-fiction especially history. He loved playing golf and continued to play through the 19th hole.
He leaves behind wife Alice, and children: Anne, John (Shannon), Michael, James, Christine Boothby (Ron), Patricia, Claire Benvegnu (Michael), Maureen and 7 grandchildren: Thomas Kesler (Kellie), Katherine Kesler, Timothy, Rachel, and Matthew Benvegnu, Jillian Boothby, Ben Harte and beloved nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anne (Nancy) Harte Gorman and niece Pamela Gorman.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Holladay, Wednesday, Feb. 12th at 11am. A Rosary and Prayer service will be held at St. Vincent's Church on Tuesday February 11th at 7:00 pm. Friends may call 5:30 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Vincent's School Scholarship Fund.
