Janice Hawkes Hanson Swanson

Janice Hawkes Hanson Swanson, 67, of Park City, Utah, passed away March 17, 2013, from complications of cancer.
Janice was born in Columbus, Ohio, July 20, 1945, and spent much of her childhood traveling the country and world with her family. She lived primarily in Salt Lake City, Utah, but spent time in Illinois, Tennessee, and a year in Berlin, Germany. Janice attended Highland High School and went on to attend the University of Utah where she earned her Bachelor's of Education and later obtained her Master's of Education from Utah State. Janice was a dedicated and talented teacher. She truly enjoyed her students. She was involved in developing new techniques to assist other teachers increase their ability to connect with students. Throughout her teaching career Janice made many lifelong friends whom she dearly loved. Janice enjoyed the arts and had a creative touch for decorating. She was a people person and enjoyed hosting social gatherings among family and friends. She loved golf and was occasionally quite good at it. When asked what she wanted in her obituary, she said, "Just that I love spending time with my family."
Janice is survived by her husband, Don; brothers, Michael and Jim (Sissel); children, Matt (Brittany) and Shauna (Jim); granddaughters, Abigail Ruth, Elizabeth Jane, Katherine Ann, Makenna Star, Caroline Leigh, Maiya Ruth and Hailey Jane.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents H. Bowman and Ruth White Hawkes.
A Celebration of Janice's life will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Park City Community Church, located at 4501 North Highway 224, Park City, Utah 84098.
In lieu of flowers Janice's family requests donations be made to the in her name. Janice would like to send a final thank you to the many friends she has made along the road of life. They have beautified her journey. Janice: Beautiful, Graceful, Elegant. Aloha!
