Jeffrey Gateley

1958 ~ 2013
Jeffrey Gateley, 54, of Salt Lake City, passed away on 22nd of April, 2013 in the University of Utah hospital.
He was born December, 1958 in California. Jeff Graduated from Buena High School in Ventura, CA in 1976. He moved on to acquire a degree in Computer Science from the University of Oregon in Eugene in 1983. Afterwards, he moved back to his home state of California and years later got married in 2003. The family lived in various parts of the Bay Area until relocating to Salt Lake City in 2005.
Jeff held various jobs at many prestigious companies, always highly sought after by top companies. His longest term of employment was with Jeppesen for over 14 years. He also held jobs at a company contracted with NASA, and later at Overstock, Farm Bureau, ADP, Department of Veterans Affairs, and finally, at the time of his death, 3m. Jeff always put his family's happiness ahead of his, pursuing the jobs that would provide the most for them.
Jeff is a devoted Christian. Among his last requests to us was to bring his Bible to the hospital.
Jeff enjoyed many activities, sharing his passions with his two sons. Surfing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping were among his favorite outdoor activities. His favorite outdoor setting would always be the beach, particularly in Ventura and the Bay Area. Sports also interested Jeff, perhaps only because his sons were so interested also, participating in baseball by playing catch or doing some hitting practice. With music Jeff remained an old soul his entire life, his favorites being the Doors, Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, the Pogues, and his favorite stations being classical music. Jeff enjoyed watching movies especially black and white movies on his computer.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Claire, his two sons Jedi and Jerry, his brothers Jon, Jim, and Joe, his parents John and Sandy Gateley, his brother-in-law Frank and Sherry, and his two nieces and one nephew. He will be dearly missed by everyone he loved.
