Jill Christy Brass

Jill Christy Brass
July 16, 1982 ~ June 25, 2013
Our beloved daughter, sister, friend, and animal lover passed away before her time. Jill was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elizabeth Miller and Edward K. Brass. Growing up, Jill enjoyed gymnastics, movies, swimming, running (able to run 10 miles before she was 10-years old), music, and horseback riding. Her love of animals continued throughout her life, often volunteering for Best Friends Animal Society. Jill was always coming to the rescue of lost animals. She especially loved her three small dogs ("babies") Finnegan, Günter, and Moby.
Jill loved traveling. During her lifetime, she traveled to Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Belize, Cancun, and all over the U.S. She especially loved visiting with friends and family in Duluth, California and New York. Jill was very outspoken and always stood up for those she loved. She was tough and opinionated, never backing down from a fight. At her core she was a gentle vulnerable woman who cared deeply for her family, friends, and the less fortunate. She loved reading and writing. She was witty, beautiful, and brave, overcoming many adversities in her life. She embraced adventure and loved to laugh. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Jill is survived by her mom Elizabeth Miller, dad and step-mom Edward and Amy Brass, her older brother Ed and his wife Audrey, her younger brother Matt and his wife Brie, her younger brother Zac, her younger sisters Rachel and Daphne, her nephew, Ever, and her grandfather, Edward C. Brass, grandmother Kathy Freeman and her godparents Cynthia and James Lehmann. Jill was preceded in death by her grandmother Marjorie A. Brass and grandfather Lester Freeman.
Private funeral arrangements are pending, but her family requests, in light of Jill's love for animals, that instead of flowers, donations be made in honor of Jill to: Best Friends Animal Society at http://bestfriends.org.
A public memorial to celebrate Jill's life and what would have been her 31st birthday will be held mid-July. Please contact Matt at mabrass@comcast.net for more details. Arrangements entrusted to Aspen Funeral Home.
