1927 ~ 2014
Marilyn Janice Cayton Eyres passed away in the early hours of June 2, 2014 at Sunrise of Sandy.
She was born October 12, 1927 to James Hobson Cayton and Willie Mae Odom in the small East Texas town of Thornton. Known to the family as "Baby" she was "Mimi" to her grandchildren. Marilyn graduated from Thornton High School in 1942 and then attended the University of Texas
, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She graduated in 1948 with a degree in Psychology. She met her husband William George Eyres while in college and they married on June 1, 1948. Marilyn and Bill moved to Pittsfield, MA where their three children were born. They returned to Dallas, Texas in 1958 where Marilyn was very active in Junior League and her church. Bill and Marilyn moved to Salt Lake City in the early 70s where Marilyn became a real estate agent, and eventually a broker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doris and brother-in-law Robert Hardie, as well as her husband Bill. She is survived by her children Stephanie (Scott) Little, Melody Eyres, and Scott (Diane) Eyres. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jascha, Shea (Jana), Marissa (Chad), and Kelli and great grandchildren Cairan, Willa, Olive, and Mexia.
The family would like to thank Sunrise of Sandy and Solstice Hospice for their care and support and to her many friends at the Evangelical Free Church of Salt Lake City who so enriched the last years of her life.
