Mary Therese Griffin

1915 ~ 2013
Mary Griffin died suddenly on July 8, 2013 at the age of 98 after a long and active life.
Dearly loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. Her intelligence, independence, and adventuresome spirit won over all who came in contact with her. Her grieving family is grateful for all the time they had with her, especially in her later life.
A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Catholic Women's League, 49er's Club, and St. Joseph's Villa Volunteer Group.
Born February 25th 1915 in Preston Minnesota to Frank and Mary Linn Kelly, Mary graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minn. and went on to the University of Minnesota for a degree in Public Health.
She married Arthur E. Griffin April 13th, 1941. Mary served as an Army nurse in World War II and continued her nursing career at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City.
She is survived by her children Mary Allred, Arthur (Margo), Richard (Mary Kay), Robert (Sandra) and Jerry, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband and two grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East on Tuesday morning, July 23, at 10 AM. There will be a visitation at the church one-half hour prior to the Mass. Committal Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave. & T Street. Funeral directors, Neil O'Donnell and Sons.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Community Services or to another charitable organization.
