Ralph Edwin Smith

Ralph Edwin Smith left this life on July 25, 2013 at his home.
Born August 16, 1933 in Murray, Utah to Bertha Smith. He was raised by his grandparents Robbie and Catharine Smith. Ralph went to school in the Granger Hunter area through Jr. High, at which time he went to work. At age 18 he joined the Air Force and served for four years during the Korean War. Upon leaving the Air Force he married his sweetheart, Myrle Sorensen, on November 26, 1955 in Spring City, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 23, 1972. He worked in the Scouting program as a Scoutmaster for 25 years. He held other jobs in the church also. Ralph worked for WW & WB Gardner for five years, then retired from Tooele Army Depot after 28 1/2 years. He was retired for six months when he went back to truck driving. He worked for Park City Trucking, Pro Drivers and Reynold's Brothers Inc. He was known as the "Energizer Bunny," not one to sit idle for any length of time.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, and his six children: Christine (Bryan) Petersen, Cindy (Jim) Farrimond, Cathy (Kenyon) Blake, Carolyn Gale, Leonard Smith, Willie (Nancy) Smith, all still residing within five minutes of his home. He is also survived by his15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Friday, August 2nd, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services on Friday.
