Robert Edward (Bob) Williams(1934 - 2014)

Bob Williams, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2014. He was born on April, 20, 1934 to Edwin and Virginia Williams in Trout, West Virginia. He graduated from Rupert High School in West Virginia. He spent most of his childhood days on his grandfather's farm in Trout, WV. He joined the US Air Force in 1953 and spent 20 years in service. While stationed at Hill Air Force Base he met and married Christine (Teen) Bodily in 1956. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was stationed in Guam, Iceland, Utah, Washington DC, England, California, North Dakota, Germany, Idaho and South Carolina. He worked on Titan Missiles, was an Air Craft Mechanic for the F4's, and an Aero Space Ground Equipment Mechanic. After retiring from the Air Force in 1973, he moved his family from South Carolina to Utah. He went to work at Bodily Auto Sales, Inc. in Clearfield, Utah, as a mechanic; then went to Ray Citte Inc. in Riverdale as their service manager for many years. He then went to work at HAFB as a civilian and retired from there in 1992. Bob loved the outdoors, gardening, grew the biggest and best tasting tomatoes ever! He loved boating, snowmobiling, fishing and camping with friends and family. He became a camp ground host at South Fork Canyon to have more time in the mountains and have a place for the grandkids to run and play in the summers.
He is survived by his wife and four children; Robert Williams, Jr., Layton; Tamra Griffis (Carlos Pantoja), Layton; Brett Williams, Layton; Brent (Lynette) Williams, South Jordan; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nadine Brackenrich of Rupert, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Vada Matherly, Hampton, VA, Jean Armstrong, Lewisberg,WV; and one grandson, Brandon Hawkins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah, where family and friends may gather Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to services from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Syracuse City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
