Robert Ernest Anderson
July 30, 1926 ~ June 10, 2014
Bob, after a long and productive life, peacefully slipped away at home surrounded by his family. He lived a life filled with love for his family, service for others and a devotion to his professional life. For nearly 66 years he and his wife Eleanor shared a partnership of love and devotion. Bob was born in Heavener OK. July 30, 1926 and graduated from Heavener high school.
During World War II
, Bob served in the U.S. Navy
as a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class V-6 USNR. Bob graduated from the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and later with a Master of Science. For 35 years, he was employed by the Mine Safety Appliances company and served as District Manger in SLC. Later he worked for Industrial Health Incorporated. He was a Certified Safety Professional, a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and a Life Member of the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute. At the University of Utah, he was an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. At the Rocky Mountain Center of Occupational and Environmental Health, he was an Instructor in the Safety and Ergonomics Program. He was a Volunteer at the VA Salt Lake City Health care System. As a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, he served in many leadership positions and participated in the Stephen Ministry.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor, sons Rob Anderson (Terry), David Anderson, Hans Anderson (Laurie), and daughter Sarah, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service, followed by a light luncheon, will be Tuesday, June 17th at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church.
