1942 ~ 2012
Ronald M. Bish passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was born August 18, 1942, in Findlay, Ohio, to Alva and Julia Bish. He attended school in Findlay and graduated from Findlay High School. He liked adventure. On a whim he and his friend traveled to Rexburg, Idaho, to attend Ricks College, where he was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He later served an honorable mission to Scotland. Ron moved to Salt Lake City, where he studied for a time at the University of Utah.
He married Alys Anderson in the Idaho Falls Temple, and they are the parents of six beautiful children- Kyra, Kris,Kelly, Kathy, Joseph, and Jonathan. Ron and Alys were later divorced but remained close friends.
Ron loved running. He ran many marathons including the Boston Marathon. He later became the Cross Country coach at Highland High School, where he coached many winning years. He was a tough coach, advising his athletes that they could "get the edge by running in the rain while their competitors were home by the fire."He later coached a children's American West track club. Many Saturdays were spent at track meets.
Ron loved the scriptures. He studied them daily. His scriptures were well marked with many notations. He was the Bishop of a singles ward and loved serving them.
Ron later assisted his sons in running a business, Internet Business Specialist. He was so proud to be a part of it. He was loved by everyone there and was known as the "Godfather."
He is survived by his children, Kyra (Robert Shepherd), Kristine (Chris Chrysler), Kelly (Burke Pedersen), Kathy, Joseph, and Jonathan; nine grandchildren, Chelsie, Sierra, Hunter, Porter, Connor, Cooper, Ella, Lia, and Maggie. He is also survived by his sister Rebecca Hickle and nephew Todd Hickle.
He will be greatly missed, but we know he is happy and watching over us.
Services will be held Saturday, December 29, at the Parleys 6th Ward, 2350 South 2100 East, SLC, Utah, at 1 p.m. A viewing will be held Friday, December 28, at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and at the Parleys 6th Ward 1 hour prior to the funeral.
