Sherman Fitzgerald

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather passed away at age 86 on October 5, 2012 while surrounded by family at his home in Draper, Utah. He was born July 29, 1926 to McKinley and Marilla Sandberg Fitzgerald. He graduated from Jordan High School. He served in the Navy as an Aviation Radioman in World War II. When returning home he met the love of his life, LaVonne Palmquist, who he married on January 28, 1950. Later their marriage was solemnized in the SLC Temple on June 21, 1960. He took over the family farm of dairy cattle and sheep. In 1962 they started Sher-Von Dairy & sold milk to the public. In 1972, the name was changed to K.D.K. Dairy. The Utah Century Farm & Ranch recognized the farm for 100 years of continuous farming and the 2nd oldest farm in the State of Utah in 1996. Sherman served on the Board of Directors for the Draper Irrigation Company/WaterPro from 1961-2011. He enjoyed playing sports and was a loyal Jazz fan. He truly loved farming, his wife and family. He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, children, Karen (Steve) Pearce, L. Darwin Fitzgerald, Kevin F. (Cindy) Fitzgerald and Karleen Necaise;12 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren. He will be welcomed in heaven by parents, McKinley & Marilla Sandberg Fitzgerald; son, Sherman Kent Fitzgerald; brothers, Reid, Vaughn and Boyd Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening and 1 hour prior to the services.
