Steven Mash
"A great man died and my heart is broken open"
Steven Mash, (Poppy), a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend died Saturday evening, Feb. 23, 2013, at his home in Murray, Utah, the city of his birth. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia, children - Steve and Paul Mash and Catherine (Richard) Prehn, granddaughter Bridget (Jeff) Gibbons and their daughters Cheyenne and Delaney, Wade Dillree and a large extended family.
Steve was born Aug. 10, 1920 to Frank Mash (Masciotra) and Felicia Casciano, the 7th of 8 children, all of whom preceded him in death. He attended the U of U until WWII cut his education short; served his country in the US Army, European Theater, as a sharp shooter (squad leader). Received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, honorably discharged. Retired from Westinghouse Electric after 37 years. Steve was a lifelong member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Steve's greatest joys were his family and friends, church, country, his gardens and golfing.
Mass of Christian Burial Monday March 4th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 Spring Lane, Holladay, UT. Vigil Prayer Service Sunday evening at 6:30 at the church. Interment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
