Marilyn Statler Obituary

Marilyn Martinez Statler
1952 ~ 2011
Marilyn Martinez Statler passed away October 24, 2011 with her family at her side. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was born to Lee and Mary Martinez on September 8, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marilyn was a loving and giving person and would befriend everyone she met. She was easy to talk to and generous with everything she had, especially her time and love. She lived with debilitating illnesses for many years, but never complained or allowed others to know of the pain she carried with her each day. Marilyn was a loving and caring wife who will be greatly missed by her husband. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a flair for style that was noticed by others fortunate enough to get to know her. She cherished her family and always looked forward to the time she would spend with her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys in life was visiting with her grandchildren and spending time creating "surprises" for them. She adored her dog "Buddy" and loved playing "hide and seek" with him, and she would often stop to visit with children and neighbors on their daily walks. Marilyn will be remembered for her love of living and life. Those she left behind will deeply miss her and know that she left an indelible impression on their lives.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her mom, Mary Martinez; her daughter and son, Brittany and Ryan; step-daughter and step-son, Dana and Richard; her brother and sister, Lee (Lynnette) Martinez and Arlene (Swen) Heimberg; and three grandchildren, Isaiah, Jalen and Ella; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Lee Martinez; and former husband, Cary Memmott.
A special thank you to all of the doctors, nursing staff and countless support personnel at Intermountain Medical Center Intensive Care Unit for their valiant efforts, loving care, support and concern provided for Marilyn and her family. We appreciate all of you.
Marilyn requested a cremation take place for her. Her Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service.

I am so sorry to hear of Marylyn's passing. I have many fond memories of her, "little" Lee and Arlene as we spent our childhood years in Kearns. I have always regretted not keeping in touch more with her and the rest of her family. Life gets past us all too quickly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Richard,

I am so sorry about Marilyn. What a wonderfully strong woman. The Martinez family and my family (Tyree) were next door neighbors for many years. I remember best our first days of school, playing Barbie dolls, and playing in "Big" Lee's insulation truck. What better way to spend time with friends?

May God's peace surround you and your family.

Mary, Lee and Arlene,
I am so very sorry for your loss. As children, growing up with all of you was the best experience that neighbors could share. I'll always remember our first days of school and also playing Barbie dolls in the back yard.

May God bless all of you. You are loved!

I am so sorry for your loss Richard, Mary, Brittany, Ryan, Arlene, Lee, Grandchildren, Step-Children, and Buddy whom she adored and other family members. I am heartbroken to know that my beloved true friend Marilyn has passed but I find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and is in God's hands. In spite, of her own pain she endured she still took the time to care for everyone that needed her love and support. She was truly an Angel that walked among us sent from God.

Marilyn,

I love you forever and ever!!

Marilyn you will truly be missed. I will miss seeing your sweet smile and sense of humor around the neighborhood. I always asked Marilyn how she was feeling and she never complained and just made me laugh with her humor. I will forever cherish our friendship. God Bless and my love to Richard and Buddy.

Richard and Buddy we are so sorry for your loss of Marilyn. Her obituary describes her perfectly, as I thought of my encounters with Marilyn I thought of how easy she was to talk to and how kind she was to my kids as she helped them feel comfortable with Buddy. Also I later learned of her humor, with "the Burbs" joke. A classic in our home. We are thinking and praying for you and your family.
