Arthur Kimball Obituary

Arthur Lionel Kimball
III
(Poppy)
On Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014 Arthur L. Kimball passed from this life at home surrounded by the love of his family, holding hands with his loving wife. He was born August 19, 1941 in Missoula, Montana, and grew up in Evanston, WY and Salt Lake City, UT His parents, William L. and Dorothy V. Kimball, siblings, Bob, Mick, Lanny, and Kay loved the outdoors and camped, fished and hunted through Utah and Wyoming. He graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School, and attended the University of Utah.
In 1960, Art joined the US Army 19th Special Forces, and was trained as a medic and light weapons expert. He was actively involved with the Utah Special Forces Chapter LXX, serving as Secretary from 2000 - 2002 and President from 2002 - 2006. He served as a Utah State Senator, from 1977 - 1982, and worked as a lobbyist and consultant in the areas of water, health, public and government relations. Art was very active politically, involved in local, state and national issues and campaigns. He was involved with the White City Community, serving as a member of the White City Community Council, White City Water Users, and is Vice Chair of the White City Water Improvement District, a position he has held since the Board was elected in 1995.
Art was devoted to his family, his Catholic faith and his country, he will be desperately missed by his grandchildren, Ethan, Bella, Tayler, Forrest and Nate (for whom he made the best cinnamon toast and chocolate milk in the world) and children, Traci Dean, Rob and Diane Dean, and Kris Kimball, and his soul mate and wife, Sue. We are all better for having known and loved him, and the world is a better place because of his service.
We appreciate the loving care of Dr. Jane McPherson, Katrina Maws, and the staff at Quality Solace Services, Dr. Sharon Weinstein and Dr. Richard Rose at the SL VA Hospital.
Friends and Family may call on Thursday, April 10 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, (1950 E 10600 S.) from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service starting at 7:00. Beloved uncle and one of the most genuine people I ever knew. He never stopped encouraging me in all of life's pursuits. Art was so warm and caring at all times, yet tough when he needed to be. He was truly unique and the kind of honorable man that one rarely meets in this life. Unforgettable. Now Art and my Dad (Mick) can hang out and cause mischief together again... and look in on all of us and our many ironies with a wry smile. Love you, Buddy.

What an awesome happening. Just a couple weeks ago, I asked if anyone could tell me what has happened to Art Kimball ? Lo and behold, not the best message I could have received, but, let me tell you, it has been an honor to know and spend a period of my life as a friend of Art. A wild sense of humor, the ability to spotlight the irony's of life in Utah. A truly good man. Thank you for sharing your life with honor.....
