Craig Davis Obituary

Craig Donald Davis 1946 ~ 2007 Craig Donald Davis, age 60, passed away May 11 from complications following surgery. He was born July 6, 1946 in Salt Lake City, to Merrill (Jim) and Janice Hancock Davis. After graduating from Murray High School in 1965, Craig went on to serve as a Green Beret in Vietnam. This experience did much to shape the rest of his life, and he always treasured the Special Operations Group (SOG) quote, "You have never lived until you have almost died. For those who have fought for it, life has a special flavor." On June 8, 1978, Craig married Annette Bernson in Salt Lake City. Always known for being fearless, Craig's passions were skydiving and scuba diving in different places around the world. Others knew him for his photographic memory as well as his knowledge and deep love of music and old model cars. Craig was an accomplished carpenter and member of Carpenters' Local 184. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Survivors include his wife, Annette; brother, Jimi Davis; sister, Wendy (Paul) Rosengard; aunts, Shari Davis Tavey and Claudia (Duane) Sleator; uncle, Ike Hancock; numerous cousins, and Annette's many extended family members. Services will be held at 12 noon on Sat. May 19, 2007 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., Murray, UT, where friends and family may call one hour before services. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the SICU at the Veterans' Administration Hospital for their devoted care during the weeks preceding Craig's passing. Condolences may be shared online at www.Jenkins-Soffe.com

Had I known soon enough I'd have been at this funeral. I have a soft spot in my heart for all those who grew up in the same schools I did for 12 years. I liked Craig very much and we always had something to share at reunions; we related well to each other and he always treated me like a friend. I'm saddened to know that he has left prematurely and for all you who are most affected by it, I send love and concern and heartfelt sympathy.

Jimi & Wendy
I am so sorry to hear about Craig, he will always have a special place in my heart as my very "first crush" in life at the tender age of nine. I will always remember the fun times that we all had boating at Echo and Bear Lake. Jimi,Wendy and Craig you were and are like brothers and sister to me. Please remember even though we don't get to see each other often how much I care for you.
