Elmer Adair Obituary

Elmer Q. Adair 1842 ~ 2003  Elmer Quinton Adair, 61, died Friday, Aug. 8 in Showlow, Arizona. He was born Aug 5, 1942, the son of Robert Lonnie and Bertha Adair of Ramah, TN. the 11th of 12 children. Raised in Tennessee, Elmer graduated from Loretto High School. Following graduation, he entered the military where he served in the US Army in the Infantry. Following his time in the Army, he joined the US Air Force where he worked as a cook for four years.  When he left the military, he worked as a welder, a custodian, a mechanic and he owned his insurance agency at one point. Elmer earned two Associate Degrees, one in Computer Science and another in Business from Northland Pioneer College in northern Arizona.He joined the LDS Church at the age of 14 and served in a number of church capacities throughout his life. He served in several bishoprics, was a Scout Master three times and was a Stake Auditor among other callings during his life. He had a passion for temple work and Genealogy and loved the outdoors. He also loved music and wrote poetry. He  was married twice. He married Jessie Mangum in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. She predeceased him. The couple had four children, Troy, Michelle, Renae and Kyle. He married Beth Anne Smith Nov. 9, 2001 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and also became a father to her two children. He was a good father and loved and supported his children.  He is survived by his wife, Beth Anne; his four children, Troy, Michelle Garcia, Renae Adair and Kyle Adair; Beth's two children: Becky Waterson and Dr. Zach Smith; and five grandchildren; He is survived by two brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services will be Friday 1 p.m. at the Wilson Ward Chapel, 1860 So. 300 East, where friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E 500 So. Directors, Neil O'Donnell & Sons.
