MARVIN TEUSCHER Obituary

Marvin H. Teuscher 1921 ~ 2009 Marvin H. Teuscher died on August 12, 2009 two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Marv was born August 11, 1921 in Geneva, ID to Robert and Rosetti Messerli Teuscher. As a young man, he learned the satisfaction of a job well done. From selling squirrel pelts, and raising lambs, Marv's successes started early. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1939 where he was two time Idaho State Wrestling Champion. He married Ruth Oliver on May 31, 1941. They had three daughters, Karen, Susan and Mary K. Marv started a successful electrical business. His company grew from a single employee to 66 electricians. Some of his favorite projects included the Hilton Hotel, university housing and school buildings throughout the valley. He was a member of the IBEW, and NECA. He served as president of the Intermountain Chapter of NECA and was elected to the National Academy of Electrical Contractors. He also owned and operated Marko Auto Parts and URCO. He was a member of the Crimson Club and honored as a Super Fan. The last time he traveled with the Utes, he went to the 2008 Sugar Bowl. He loved to travel both abroad and on road trips in the United States. He liked fly fishing, deep lake fishing in Alaska, and golfing at the Cottonwood Country Club. He was proud of his Swiss heritage, and he believed that cheese and jam made everything taste better. Marv was a member of the Presbyterian Church of American Fork where he served as both a deacon and an elder. He was responsible for overseeing the restoration of the church building for its Centennial Celebration in 1977. The hallmark of Marv's life was determination, integrity and hard work. He had an uncanny ability to see a problem and its solution. He loved life to the fullest. He adored his family and each of us was convinced we were his favorite. He is survived by his wife Ruth; his daughters Susan (Richard Dunlap) and Mary K. Hall; grandchildren Todd (Lynn) Porter, Anne (Trevin) Clark, Jamie (Steve) Bennion, Katherine (Judge) Evans, Stacie (Alonzo) Van Tassel, Kenzie (Hermann) Kaufmann, Landon Hall-Annie Robbins; great-grandchildren Shelby, Mason Marvin, Teya, Sidney, Gavin, Bode, Henry, Hayden Marv, and Alexandra, sister Ruby (Jack) Cleveland and brother Cal (Dee) Teuscher. Preceded in death by daughter, Karen, his parents, four brothers and one sister. The family will greet friends on Wed., Aug. 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork. Interment will take place Thursday Aug. 20, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Fork Cemetery. Immediately following, a celebration of Marv's life will begin at the Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. 75 North 100 East, American Fork, UT 84003. Marv's last project was the restoration of the stained glass windows at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations to the Windows Project may be made in his memory.

Dear Aunt Ruth, I'm so sorry for your loss. Dad told me that he had a wonderful phone conversation with Uncle Marv a month or so ago. They shared many memories of their boyhood and adventures. Don't you know that those two were something to be in the same family. But, Daddy tells me that Granny Teuscher kept them in line with willow switches. I can just picture that!
Love to your family..and may your faith sustain.
Love,
Susan Stevens Teuscher Trammell

Dear Ruth I learned of Marv's passing this morning and felt bad that I could not attend. My Parents Don and Pat Taft thought so highly of both of you. It seems like yesterday you were all out playing golf or at some NECA Meeting together. I really liked your husband and he was always so kind to me. I loved his laugh and his possitive attitude about the many challenges our industry faced constantly. He was a true leader in the electrical construction industry in the intermountain west. It was always a wonderful sight to see you two together and see the love that you had for each other. It was a wonderful tribute to your marriage. It is hard to believe that my Mom died 13 years ago and Dad pass away almost 10 years ago. I do not know if you knew that Don Jr., my older brother passed away a year ago from colon cancer. If you have time in the future I would love to talk to you if you are up to it (801) 520-9407. Sincerely Craig L. Taft

Marv was an amazing man, whom led an amazing life. He went places and seen stuff, that most people don't ever get a chance to do, and It was my honor to have met him. Marv was my Great Uncle, and he was somebody whom I had an extreme amount of respect, and admiration for. I can only hope that I can become half the man he was. My deepest sympathy to my Aunt Ruth, and the rest of the family. We will all miss Uncle Marv.

Marv always made one feel welcome into his home, cabin or store. He was a kind and intelligent man with a great sense of humor and a soft voice. He was one of those few people who you enjoy just being in his presence. There is no doubt the good Lord will continue to watch over him.
