Ann-Marie Basich Lence Obituary
1958 ~ 2013
Ann-Marie Basich Lence, 54, loving wife and mother, passed away on February 28, 2013, at her home in Salt Lake City.
Born in 1958 in Los Angeles, California to Blazenka ("Bonnie") Basich and Frank Basich, she attended Venice High School in Los Angeles. She graduated with an A.B. in English from Stanford University in 1980 and earned her J.D. degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1983. She married Robert Burton Lence in 1981 in Los Angeles.
Ann-Marie was a loving, nurturing, and devoted wife and mother. Her children were the light of her life. She attended every concert, play, swim meet, soccer game, volleyball match, and fencing tournament in which any of her children were participating. Her children's friends considered her a second mother.
She was an active member of the Rowland Hall-St. Mark's School community, serving for two terms on the Board of Trustees, as Chair of the Annual Giving Campaign, and on several search committees for various school leadership positions.
She was an avid supporter of Stanford University, and served on her 30th year Reunion Committee in 2010. Ann-Marie and her husband Rob first met at Stanford, and in recent years enjoyed many visits back to the campus to visit their children and attend sporting events and other activities.
In addition to her love of crossword puzzles, trivia, aerobics, pilates, kale shakes, and her irrepressible need to correct grammar mistakes, she will be remembered most of all for her unqualified and constant devotion, kindness, and commitment to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Burton Lence; three children, Bryan Robert Lence (Clare Tobin Lence), Kristen Elizabeth Lence (fiancé Joshua Reid Taylor), and Erin Marie Lence; mother Blazenka Basich; two brothers Anthony Basich (Mary Luppi Basich) and Frank Basich (Andrea Pease); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored and adored her in return.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Westwood Hills Christian Church, 10808 Le Conte Ave, Los Angeles, California. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to 9 Dots Community Learning Center, P.O. Box 461976, Los Angeles, CA 90046.
