Barbara Lois Lister Obituary
12/19/1937 ~ 07/31/2013
Barbara Lois Bonner Johnson Lister, 75, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in Heber City, Utah.
Barbara was born December 19, 1937, to Everice Floyd and Lois Thacker Bonner in Heber City, Utah. She grew up in Midway, Utah the eldest of six children. Barbara attended Wasatch County schools, graduating from Wasatch High School, then attending USU. She married William Lowell Johnson, April 10, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. Later divorced. She then married Thomas Jerry Lister, October 8, 1994 in Midway, Utah. Later solemnized in the Provo Utah Temple.
When her children were older, Barbara returned to work, working as a secretary, first at Midway Elementary School and later at the Wasatch County School District office retiring as secretary to the superintendant.
Barbara's children and grandchildren were precious to her and she cared deeply for each one. They fondly remember her famous chocolate chip cookies and good times spent at her house. Barbara was blessed with musical talent which she shared freely throughout her life. She played organ and piano for INNUMERABLE church meetings, funerals, weddings and other events. How sad she was when arthritis put an end to the sharing of these talents.
Barbara was an active member of the LDS Church. She served faithfully and well throughout her life in many callings. She especially enjoyed serving as secretary to Patriarch Kyle Probst, transcribing hundreds of blessings.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas Jerry Lister; her children: Lynn W. Johnson (Robin), Jane Horton (Mike), Annette Kopachik (Will), Benjamin N. Johnson (Michelle), Audrey Rice (Allan). Step-children: Mark Lister (Kiz), Rick Lister (Debbie), Kim Jepperson (Justin). 24 Grandchildren and 5 3/4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Evva Kaye Bonner, William F. Bonner (Ruth), Linda Rees (Steve), Larry C. Bonner (Ellen) and Clark D Bonner (Amy).
Preceded in death by her parents, grandson Ryan Brisk and step-daughter Jeanne Lister Mair.
The family wishes to thank all who loved and served Barbara throughout her illness both at home and at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber City.
