Bernard Jackson Obituary

Bernard R. Jackson  DELTA- Bernard R. Jackson, age 92, peacefully passed away surrounded by his children in the early morning hours on October 7, 2002 inDelta . Born July 17, 1910 in Salt Lake City to George R. and Rhoda Ruffell Jackson. Moved to Monroe when a baby. Moved from Monroe to Sutherland, in the  spring of 1916, in a sheep wagon. Was one of the pioneering farmers and continued tilling the soil, feeding his calves, burning and spraying weeds, (and driving his truck!) until 91 years of age. Married his sweetheart, Nella Robison, Sept. 8, 1933 in Las Vegas, NV. Later solemnized in Manti Temple. She passed away September 19, 1996 after 63 years of marriage. He was a member of the LDS Church. Served in many positions - favorite being Church Farm manager. Long meetings weren't his thing. Always there for people in need. Nothing more important than his wife and family.  Survived by children: Robert (Ruth) Jackson, Lon (Nedra) Jackson, LeRay (Vicki) Jackson all Delta; Barbara (Scott) Callister, Morro Bay, CA; Steven (Deb) Jackson, Fillmore; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grand-children; sister: Ruth (Robert) Anderson, American Fork; brother: Lloyd (Melba) Jackson, Moses Lake, WA. Preceded in death by five sisters: Laverna, Lucy, Della, Maxine, Shirley; one brother Russell.   Services Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, 11 a.m., Sutherland Ward. Viewings Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S. Center, Delta and at church Saturday, 9:30-10:40 a.m. Burial Sutherland Cemetery.
