Bonita Orme Obituary
Bonita DeMarr Sadleir Orme
1929 ~ 2013
A truly amazing lady returned to her Heavenly Father on March 6, 2013, after a long and tenacious battle with COPD.
Bonnie was born in Berkeley, CA, to Arthur and Fairel (Anderson) DeMarr.
She graduated from Berkeley High School where she worked on the school newspaper and starred in school plays. During college, she worked for Utah Power and Light. In the summer, she worked at the Grand Canyon and during winter break at Sun Valley. After graduating from U of U in 1950, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, Bonnie began teaching school in Salt Lake City.
Bonnie met William (Bill) H. Sadleir while skiing at Alta. She thought Bill was smart, charming, and handsome, and they married in 1951. Together they had three sons and a daughter. After moving to Sacramento, Bonnie and Bill eventually settled in Seattle, WA, in 1964. Bonnie taught P.E. for the Seattle School District for several years. Many of her students remember her for her enthusiasm and creative teaching methods. Bonnie earned a Master's in Education from U of W.
She and Bill divorced in 1974. She married Jesse M. Orme in 1981. Jesse was her best friend, and they had a lot fun together. After a work-related injury when she was no longer able to teach, she became passionate about water quality and protecting Puget Sound.
Bonnie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a testimony of the Savior and His Atonement. She served in many callings and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Bonnie is welcomed into heaven by her parents, her brothers Danton and Raymond DeMarr, her husband, and her son Timothy R. Sadleir.
She will be remembered and missed by her sons William K. Sadleir, Paul D. (Kris) Sadleir, daughter Amy (Paul Baum) Sadleir, 12 grandchildren, 11.5 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary (495 S. State St, Orem, UT) on Tuesday, March 12 from 12 to 2 p.m. Interment is at Salt Lake City Cemetery at 3 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the LDS Discovery Park Ward in Magnolia (2415 31st Ave W, Seattle, WA) on Saturday, March 30th.
