Bonnie June Harker Duffin Obituary
Bonnie June Harker Duffin, age 68, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away on March 16, 2013 in Quartzsite, AZ of respiratory failure. She will be remembered for her gentle nature and her faithful service to her family and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She and her husband especially loved serving five missions: Las Vegas, Nevada Proselyting Mission, Salt Lake Family History Service Mission; Cove Fort Visitor's Center; Tuba City, Arizona Family History Center; and, most recently, the Nauvoo Visitor's Center.
Bonnie was born the oldest of seven children, September 8, 1944 in Shelley, Idaho, to William Meeks and June Adele Smith Harker. She was very musical and could sing before she could talk. Her early years were spent working on the family farm and being a wonderful big sister to Evelyn (Paul) Frederick, Faun (David) Tucker, Darlene (Keith) Despain, Bill (Valerie) Harker, Lynn Harker, (deceased) and Marvin (Raedene) Harker. She was a gifted pianist. She loved learning. Bonnie met the love of her life, Daryl Duffin while attending Brigham Young University where she graduated in Business Education. They were married May 31, 1969, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and raised five wonderful children: Lora (Rustin) Roth, Emily (Ken) Barlow, Jill (Kelly) Tippetts, Tim Duffin and Matthew (Valerie) Duffin.
Sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren brought joy to her life. Not being strong in health, Bonnie focused on her family and service. Her righteous example and strong testimony will be a heritage to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lynn and granddaughter, Grace.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, at the Orchard 8th Ward Chapel, 55 East 350 North, North Salt Lake, UT at 11:00am. A viewing will be Thursday, March 21, from 6 - 8 pm at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful and an hour prior to services. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
