1929 ~ 2012|
Carol Thomas Cunningham died Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
Carol was born to Norwegian parents, Carl and Astrid Jacobsen, on February 25, 1929 in Spanish Fork, Utah. She received her R. N. from LDS School of Nursing, was a practicing nurse for many years and went on to teach nursing at Holy Cross School of Nursing. The second half of her career was spent in health care administration with I.H.C. and the State of Utah.
Carol married Burke R. Thomas (deceased) and together they raised four children in Sugar House and the wilds of the Uintah Mountains. Carol loved the outdoors, fishing, hiking, hunting and even water skiing. In winter you would find the family skiing, ice skating or tubing down Little Dell with Carol providing hot chocolate and chili in the camper on their return.
After Burke passed, Carol found love again and married William E. Cunningham (deceased). Carol and Bill spent winters following the sun in their motor home and traveling the world together. Carol's adventures took her across the globe from the Panama Canal to Tahiti, across Europe and around South America. She spent the night on the floor of a welcoming home in the Falkland Islands when the weather was too rough for the ship's tenders to retrieve them. Her last travels took her to Egypt for a cruise down the Nile and a tour of the Pyramids.
Carol is survived by her children Carla J. Coonradt (Charles), Kevin B. Thomas (Michele), Ronda T. Farrell (Lewis) and Colleen Bloxham (Michael) and her stepsons Robert Cunningham (Shelly) and Marc Cunningham. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and her little dog, Andy.
