Donna May Chappell Wilde

1923 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
March 17, 1923 ~ July 17, 2017
Donna C. Wilde passed from this life on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Orem, Utah. Donna was the sixth of eight children born to Charles LeRoy Chappell and Rula May Peay on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1923 in Provo, Utah.
Early years were spent in Provo, coping with all the challenges associated with the troubling economic times, in a large family, with limited resources. Through it all, she became a determined, hard-working, and tough-minded optimist - traits that have served her well.
As a young woman she attended Dixon Junior High School and later Provo High School; graduating with the class of '41. Shortly thereafter, she married Clifford John Carter and relocated to Los Angeles, California where a son Stephen was born. As her husband was involved in the war effort, and later with the U. S. Navy, she returned to Provo where she lived the remainder of her life. Years later, she married Edwin "Chick" Wilde and they enjoyed nearly 20 years together before his passing in 1982.
For much of her adult life, Donna was employed by First Security Bank where she progressed from "proof" operator, to teller, to mortgage loan officer. There she continued to learn and enjoyed the association of many friends and business acquaintances. Following her retirement, and still feeling a need to make a contribution, she began volunteer service at the IHC Utah Valley Medical Center. Although slowed by age, she continued to serve and accumulated over 10,000 hours of volunteer service at the hospital. Throughout her life, Donna was known as a caring, dependable, and forthright person - someone who could be counted on when times were difficult.
Donna is survived by a son Stephen, his wife Sylvia and four wonderful grandchildren; Kimberly (Kevin) Goaslind, Matthew (Melissa) Carter, Kelli (Matthew) Stark, and John (Emily) Carter along with thirteen beautiful great-grandchildren - Elizabeth, Emily, Meganne, Rebecca, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Sarah, Sadie, Joseph, Quinton, Christian John, Jackson, and Owen. She is also survived by one sister; Grace C. Bramall, numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, from 2-2:40 p.m. prior to services at the cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
