Dorothy Carroll Clark Meadows, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt died May 3, 2014 at the age of 90 in Highlands Ranch, CO.
She was born on September 14, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest LeRoi and Lillian Bolton Carroll. She married Ervin Clark on November 20, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. He died on June 1, 1958. She married Richard Walter Meadows on October 13, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple for time. He died on November 19, 2003. She loved them both very much.
She worked in the Signal Corps at Hill Air Force Base during World War II. She loved learning and received an Alpha Gamma Sigma award upon her graduation from the California Junior College Honor Society in June 17, 1960. She received her B.S. Degree from the University of Utah in 1961 and her Masters of Education from Brigham Young University in 1973. She retired as an elementary school teacher in 1986 after 25 years of teaching and was named Teacher of the Year for Murray School District in 1982-83: "To teach is to touch a life forever".
Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a Golden Gleaner. She served as a missionary in the Texas Louisiana Mission from 1945-1947. Throughout her years she served in many callings including Gospel Doctrine teacher, YWMIA President, Counselor in the Relief Society, Sunday School Teacher, Teacher Trainer Instructor and Visiting Teacher. She also was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved the Lord and wanted to please him.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and in later years spending time at her cabin in Alpine Acres by Oakley, Utah.
She dearly loved her family and friends and was faithful in remembering special occasions for all with cards and letters.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, grandson (Matthew Bryce Wagstaff), foster daughter (Helen Denetclaw) and other extended family members.
Survived by her children: Deanne (Rich) Leatherman (Holladay, UT), Stephen (Julie) Clark (Price, UT), David (DeAnn) Clark (Murray, UT) and Carol (Bryce) Wagstaff (Highlands Ranch, CO); 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; brothers, LeRoi Carroll, Don Carroll, Dean Carroll and Thomas (Ramona) Carroll as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cottonwood 2nd Ward, 2080 E. 5165 South. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment in the Holladay Memorial Park. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
