Fred Williams Obituary
May 14, 1954 ~ April 21, 2016
Our loving husband and brother passed away on April 21, 2016 at the age of 61 after bravely battling cancer for 6 years. With never a complaint, he fought it to the end.
Fred was born on May 14, 1954 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Ann and John Brunson Williams. He married the woman he loved on August 23, 1997 in Salt Lake City. He grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia and lived a short distance from the Ohio River. He graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Chemistry and later obtained his MBA at the University of Phoenix. Due to his poor eyesight he could not pursue his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut. Instead, he took up model rocketry as a lifelong hobby. He was president of the Utah Rocket Club (UROC) for a short time until his cancer diagnosis made it hard to continue. He continued to be fascinated with space exploration.
Fred was a devoted and loving husband enjoying long walks with his wife while holding hands. They had a special bond together. He had a sharp mind and a quiet, gentle demeanor. His job title was Laboratory Scientist at Dyno Nobel where he loved the people he worked with and his job responsibilities.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Debra J. Williams and two brothers Jay (Cynthia) Williams and William "Bill" (Louly) Williams, along with two nieces Laura Williams and Ellie Williams. He is preceded in death by his parents John Brunson Williams and Ann (Williams) Kline.
