Harvey E. Lehmitz Obituary
1922 ~ 2013
Harvey E. Lehmitz, 90, died July 25, 2013 in Pullman, WA. He was born Dec. 24, 1922 to William Lehmitz Jr. and Mary Ruth Allmendinger Lehmitz in West Jordan, UT. He married Lorraine Steadman on Aug. 18, 1951, just after the threshing crew finished harvest. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple Nov. 22, 1961.
He lived his life in West Jordan where he farmed during the day and ran shovel at Kennecott Copper at night. They moved to Pullman, WA in 1993 where they had bought a farm. He loved farming, growing wheat, his family, his wife's homemade chocolates, telling tall tales and singing silly songs. He loved West Jordan where he knew and helped everyone. He loved to tell the stories of those people and those days. He was an excellent mechanic.
Survived by his three sons Harvey K. (Tammy), Pullman WA; Jim (Laurel), West Jordan; Dave (Michele), Moscow, ID; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four sisters Ruth Christiansen, Dorothy Seal, Fern Beckstead and Shirley Newman.
Preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, parents and four brothers Roy, Glen, Dean and Don.
A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, UT, Thursday, Aug. 8 from 6-8 p.m. A short service will be held at Goff Mortuary, Friday, Aug. 9 from 10-10:45 a.m. with interment to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 South 1300 West. www.goffmortuary.com
