Helen Garcia Obituary

1922 ~ 2012
Helen Katherine Garcia, 89 of Kearns, Utah left us to be reunited with her beloved George her husband of 65 years, she passed away at their home they shared for 57 years. Helen Katherine Curry was born July 20, 1922 in Atoka, OK to Clarence and Ruby Curry.
She had so many accomplishments in her life, but her greatest moment was meeting a handsome soldier stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma whom after knowing only a month married and entered a wonderful journey of life together for 65 years. Her true pride in life was her family, friends and faith as she converted to Catholicism 70 years ago... She was a true historian with a brilliant sharp mind and remarkable way to tell a story. She will be missed by many for her acceptance and tolerance of all people.
Helen is survived by her daughters: Ruby Mae (Richard) Francks, (Kathy Peckham), Grandson, Anthoney George (Veronica) Keller of Los Angeles and Granddaughter, Brittney (Melissa) Mae Keller of Denver Colorado, her three adored Great Grandchildren, Anthony, Giselle and Joshua Keller, her God Daughters Shauna McCleery and Chris Portelli, brother Olen Curry (Mary Ann) and of course Buster the Beagle. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband George M. Garcia and her brother James C. Curry.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service starting at 7:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to services at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns, Utah. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 12:00 p.m. at the church, officiated by Father Rob Moriarty. Interment to follow services at Redwood Memorial Park, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
Thank you for the Ladies Craft group of St Francis Xavior Catholic Church, and Father Rob who kept them all entertained and for making Helen feel special and able to reunite with many old friends, Longtime friends Betty Bizek and Ida Newman. We would also like to thank Shauna and Chris for their loving care.
