Holly Haight Mirabelli Obituary
Holly Haight Mirabelli
8/15/1953 ~ 10/9/2014
Kind, intelligent, gracious and poised, Holly Haight Mirabelli filled her life with a love of family, friends and animals. Surrounded by those close to her, she died at home Thursday from complications of chronic pneumonia at the age of 61.
A Salt Lake City native, Holly earned her Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Utah in 1976. She wed Dick Mirabelli the same year and the two of them raised two great children, Emily and Alex. With precision and grace, Holly and Dick welcomed friends and family into their home. Holly's masterful skills in the kitchen were a welcome centerpiece to years of tradition.
Holly was an accomplished harpist, a needlepoint artist, and a master of the English language. Her handwritten letters are treasured memories among her friends and family. She remained abreast of current events and was a proud member of the Democratic Party. Her philanthropic efforts supported many organizations whose outreach encompassed a wide range of humanitarian efforts. Her beloved dog, Lulu, will, without a doubt, wonder why meals no longer taste as sweet.
Holly is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Whitney J. Haight and Maxine. She is survived by her husband Dick, children Emily and Alex, sisters-in-law Donna and Rosalie, niece Giulia, and nephew Luke. Holly was also blessed by her close friends Jeanne Campbell, Julie Morriss, and Bill Lee.
In lieu of donations, Holly requested flowers for her funeral services. They will be held Wednesday October 15, 2014 at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South. Following the burial, a HUGE party with music, food and drink will be held at the Cinegrill Restaurant, 1000 South Main Street. Please join the family in the celebration of Holly's life. In the words of Holly, "I'll have dessert and coffee."
