James Strong Obituary

1952 ~ 2012
Jim was born October 19, 1952 to Don and Joyce Wilkins Strong. He passed away unexpectedly January 14, 2012 of natural causes.
He was a loving husband, an amazing dad, and a wonderful son, brother, and friend.

He was a practical joker, story teller and had an amazing love for life.

Survived by his loving wife, Claire, and their children, Nicole, Karrie (Palmer), Alex, and Kailee. Also survived by his parents, Don and Diane Strong, favorite Auntie Irene Wilkins, and siblings, John (Elaine) Strong, Wendy Deverall, Sharon (Milo) Trujillo, Lori (Steve) Aikin. Kris (Mark) Humphries and Stacie (Frank) Hicks. Preceded in death by his mother, Joyce, and his beloved dog, Drake.

June 28, 2012

Today I received a call from an old friend asking if I knew Jim had passed away. She herself had just been made aware of it, long after the fact.

I am so saddened to hear this news. I worked with Jim when I was in Detectives. I learned so much from him. Let alone all of the times we laughed until we were silly. And the practical jokes.....my gosh.

When I left the S.O. to go to another agency, Jim went with me when I went to say some things to the County Attorney's Office. It wasn't pretty but truthful. As we walked back across the street Jim started laughing and said he now knew what he was going to do on his last day at work. One of those.......you had to be there things.

Jimmy, you were an absolute bright and shining light in life. I'm sure you are having a blast right now. May God bless your family and may I see you again. You are the man.

Jim...
I sit here today, thinking about You, and how sudden You left us.
NO ONE IS GUARANTEED A TOMORROW!
There were some things I did not get said...
A movie I did not get sent to You...
Yes, You can kick my butt!
I have read all of the Guest Book notes, in the Salt Lake Tribune, that were left for *YOU*
I always told You, that You were ONE IN A MILLION...
Jim, I do have to change that now.
*YOU WERE ONE IN A GAZILLION*...
Just wanted You to know that I was thinkin of You, right now!
Keep your eye on Claire & the Kids...They will Always Need You!
We are all still Lovin & Missin *YOU*

January 19, 2012

Jim, leaving us has left a void in the world. Even though you were our SWAT Capt, I always called you "Jim"-and you are one of the few who knew why...i had much more respect for the man you were than simply the rank you held. It is never the "rank" that is the measure of a man (although you were a kind, genuine and caring Captain). It is the man that wears the shirt that earns my respect. You, my friend, wore that shirt well. I don't say this to many... "On You." Thank you for your example, your humility, your empathy , the ability you had to make people feel you were interested in them personally, and most of all your friendship. Heaven has a new Peacemaker. And one that will be watching over his family & friends. Till we meet again...

January 19, 2012

Jim you will be greatly missed by so many. You had a huge, impacting presence on those who had the fortune of knowing you. From the day I met you it was obvious that you would give the shirt right off your back to anyone in need. I will miss saying hi to you everyday, seeing you smile about what dog was in your office now, your awesome sense of humor and just you. My thoughts are with Jim's family and I am sending lots of love your way.

To Jim's Family, I am so sorry for your loss. My daughter worked with Jim through the gifts program at the Animal Shelter and had nothing but the most wonderful comments about him. She was very upset when she had to move from the Animal Shelter and had been waiting to hear from Jim about being a volunteer. She just let me know that she will be attending his funeral tomorrow. He was a very positive influence in Lacey's life and she will always remember him as a great teacher and friend. Susan Delgado

May the Lord's choicest blessings be with you at this time of grief.

Strong Family:
I worked with Jim at the Salt Lake County Jail around 1977-78. He was so fun to work with and we had a lot of good times.
We both went on to careers in Law enforcement and when our paths would cross during those years, he would always take the time to talk and laugh about our days working at the jail. I always felt uplifted a little after talking and laughing with Jim.

Claire and Dear Family, Namaste- My Heart and Thoughts extend to all of you in this earth experience that you are still having with your Loving and Most Beautiful Son, Husband, and Father (perhaps Grandfather and Uncle too) He is paving the way for all of you to align with Him in the Spiritual Realm, the Dimension where our True Reality exists, for the physical plane is but an illusion and death - the very meaning of the word- is non-existent. There is no end to Life.. only a transformation of energy which carries with it, the Consciousness of your Dear Beloved, the same Consciousness in all of you. How wonderful when you all shall embrace each others core energy of the Highest Light and Vibration. Love to all of you , Penelope 3namaste3

So very sorry for your loss, Jim was a great guy and will be missed by many who knew him. We were part of the first graduating class from Cottonwood High and it's hard to believe he is gone, RIP buddy.
