Jerry Clarkson Obituary

1932 - 2014
Today we said good bye to our Dad, sending him into the waiting arms of his loving wife, our Mom, who has been longing for his presence for more than a year. We can only imagine the happy reunion.
Jerry Ray Clarkson was born on December 13, 1932 to George Victor Clarkson, and Orlean Howard Clarkson, and passed away on February 18, 2014. He was the oldest of three children. He grew up in North Salt Lake, Utah and attended Davis High school, where he met his future wife Carma Ann Moss. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 4, 1951. Together they had four children, Lana (Hal) Young, Bountiful, Jay (Beckie), Farr West, Jeff (Joyce), Kaysville, and Lisa (Cary Gunther), Fruit Heights, who created many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jerry started his 40 year career at Mountain Fuel Supply Company (Questar) in August of 1952 working from digging ditches to becoming Vice President of Marketing and Sales, retiring in December of 1992. He was very proud of his years at MFS.
Jerry was an avid car enthusiast, and owned more cars and trucks than we can count. His favorite pastime was to wash, polish and work on his cars. Jerry loved his family, more than anything in life. Jerry and Carma spent their retirement years traveling the country in their many motor homes, and enjoyed the winters in their second home in St. George for many years. Jerry was known for his happy nature, and constant smile. He never walked away from someone he cared about without saying "Be careful". Such a sweet man.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Carma. He is survived by his children, and his two sisters, Connie (Dale) Capps and Kaye (Doug) Boulton, both of Bountiful. Our Family would like to thank our friends at Pheasant View Assisted Living in Layton, and Utah Hospice Specialists. Dad loved each and every one of you, and felt your love as well.
We would love to have you express your thoughts about Jerry at www.russonmortuary.com. Private family services were held previously.

Dear Clarkson Family:

I just learned today of your father's passing and your mother's passing last year. I was so sorry to hear this news. It was my opportunity to serve as their home teacher and bishop from 2002-2006. I loved your parents and appreciated their love for each other and for you, their children. May you be comforted at this difficult time.

Dear Lana and extended family,

I worked with Jerry at Mountain Fuel and appreciated his work ethic, his cheerful nature, and what I came to know was his life of integrity. It's hard to experience the temporary void in our world when loved ones pass on, but his love will be a strength to you and a source of recalled happy memories.

Dear Clarkson Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. I worked with him for several years at Mountain Fuel. I always thought the world of Jerry, he was definitely one of a kind and loved by everyone. I remember his and Dave Geerlings "planning meetings" and daily walks on their morning break. I hope they're sharing a walk right now. Remember you're in the hearts of those who care and the grief felt today will be replaced with precious memories.

I only knew your father for a short time, but in that time I came to love his happy disposition and wonderful example. We moved my mother into Pheasant View in Dec. and Jerry always greeted us with a smile. I loved the way he would go to his table for meals and give each one a friendly hello and pat on the back. Often he would go get things and help others who couldn't get up and move like he could. He was a happy kind man.

He is missed.

Jerry: Our times together at Lake Powell were special, just as your efforts for our Company were. You made the special effort for both, I know, and I extend my kindest thoughts to all the Clarkstons.

Best wishes to you all.

Lana,
It has been a long time since Questar and I don't know if you will remember me, but I have fond memories of conversations with you and your Dad. Your Dad could make someone's day just by saying Hi. He always had a smile on his face and a positive note in his voice, and you could tell how special you were to him by just watching the two of you interact at work. The memories you and your family have of times spent together with your folks will always be treasures. Find a fun picture of them and keep it where you can look at it now and then.

We didn't know Carma and Jerry, but we can feel the special love others had for them by living in the last home they shared together. We are told amazing stories of a great family and wonderful neighbors that they were. We sure have big shoes to fill in this neighborhood. We are so sorry for your loss.
