Jon was an incredibly smart, kind, and caring man with a great sense of humor. He was always smiling and making me laugh, even the last time I saw him when he was in so much pain. He was very strong and even though he hurt, I never heard him complain. He served his country in the military and served his community as a doctor, two things I was never brave enough or disciplined enough to pursue. He also kept my grandma happy during their years together while being a loving grandfather. I'm going to miss you Grandpa Doc, and I'll never forget you! you have a place in my heart forever

I can't believe how badly I miss him.. I kissed him, hugged him, and told him I loved him every-time I saw him... I knew this was coming, but it still Hurts more then I ever imagined... I do have the Peace of knowing he is not in pain any more, and he was in so much pain for the last few years.

Dear Sam and All Family, Talked to my mom today & she told me of Jon's passing. I have so many fond memories of my times with you, Jon & everyone in Boise, as well as a few visits in Lodi. He was the best, & always took care of me with his skill, humor and caring nature. My thoughts are with you. Take care.

I have a very distinct memory of playing with Grandpa when I was little. I feel like it was at my parents' first cabin, but I was so young I may be completely wrong. I remember joking and laughing and trying to pick on him, but he always won that game! It ended with a wet finger in my ear for having tried the same with him followed by me running off squealing only to return for a hug. I love you Grandpa! And Grandma, you are such an amazing person. I love you so much too. Things will get better, you have so much more life to live! Grandpa will be missed, but never forgotten.
