Joseph Edward Jones Obituary
1949 ~ 2014
Joe, our sweet husband and father passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2014, due to Alzheimer's. During his last week he was showered by the love of many friends and family. We are comforted to know that he is now whole and enjoying a reunion with his twin brother and other loved ones that have gone before him. Joe was born in Bingham Canyon on April 21, 1949 to Jack P. and Mary Jane Susaeta Jones. Joe married Patricia Fay Reams on November 9,1973. Later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on June 4, 2009. Together they had three beautiful, smart, amazing children! After graduating from Bingham High school in 1967, he soon began his career at Hill Air Force Base repairing aircraft instruments for the F-4 aircraft. In June of 1968, several days before his draft notice came, Joe enlisted in the Navy, hoping to stay on a ship and not fight. He was sent to Corpus Christi, TX for two years. After two years in Texas, he was sent to Guam and upgraded to Flight Engineer. He flew missions all around the Orient. He even flew into Australia, where he guarded Henry Kissinger's aircraft. Joe was also part of a medic flight crew in Vietnam, but never spoke of it. He left the Navy in 1972 and returned to work at HAFB where he had many jobs. His favorite assignment was working with the INF treaty in Magna for 3 years. He really enjoyed his time working with the Russians and entertaining them while they were here. During this time he received schooling and earned his bachelors degree at the U of U. He retired in 2006 working as a computer security specialist at HAFB. After retirement, his greatest joy was playing and traveling with Pat and his grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them to the park to play, camping, hiking and the many trips to ride with the boys and Disneyland with the girls. Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jones, sister, Mary Carrigan, and father, Jack P. Jones, and many others. He is survived by wife, Pat, son Justin (Amanda), daughter Angela Miller (Tim), daughter Tara Anderson (Steven), grandchildren Jace, William, Blake, Eliza, Atlie, Macie, Lincoln and soon to be Norah, sister Jane Hatt (Dave), brother Bill Jones (Christina), and numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to all those who helped Pat and Joe through the duration of the disease, including Bill and Kathy Randall, Harvey and Joette Seal, Linda with respite care, and many others.
