Salt lake City, UT-Mary Caroline Jonsson, daughter of Ilta Madsen and Elmer Eugene Jonsson, passed away December 12, 2013.
Mary was born in Salt Lake City, UT. She grew up in the avenues and graduated from West High. She graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked for several years as a consultant for Harper & Row Publishers. She spent the rest of her career teaching first grade at McKinley Elementary school in Burlingame, California.
Mary loves people, cooking, entertaining, gardening, world travel and Christmas. Mary is a happy, kind and generous woman. She has many friends who love her. She is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and worked in the youth programs.
She is survived by her sisters; Jolyn Jonsson and Cornelia (Ralph)Wilson, her nieces and nephews: Scott (Kit) Wilson, Provo, Utah; Steven (Debbie) Wilson, Michael (Judith) Wilson, Mark (Mary Ann) Wilson, Spanish Fork, Utah; Julie (Steve) Lawson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Kristin (Mark) Renauld, Ballston Lake, New York, and many grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
We thank the staff at the Emeritus Senior Living Center for their superlative, loving, and dedicated care of Mary. Special thanks to Jill, Heidi, and Susan.
We celebrate Mary's life and invite you to services to be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 12 noon, at the LDS Ensign Stake Center located at 2nd Avenue and A Street, Salt Lake City, UT with a visitation prior to the service from 10:30 - 11:45 am. Interment at the Salt Lake City cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to the Assistance League for their children's reading program.
