Muriel Cuthbert Obituary
Muriel Olive Mason Cuthbert
1927 - 2012
Salt Lake City, UT-Muriel was born June 16, 1927 in Nottingham, England to Arthur Close Mason and Jenny West. Muriel was one of two daughters. She married her childhood sweetheart Derek A. Cuthbert on May 12, 1945. She was also a devoted mother to her ten children, and proud of her 45 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Derek and Muriel joined the LDS Church in January 1951. Muriel was a devoted wife, traveling all over the world with her husband as he served in many church callings, including as Mission President in the Scotland Edinburgh Mission and as one of the Quorum of the Seventy. Muriel served in many church callings herself, including five times as Relief Society President, and Stake Single Adult Representative at age 73! She loved to be busy and never wasted a minute, whether it was writing, doing family history, knitting for others, volunteering for humanitarian causes and supporting charities. She was known for her sense of humor, her beautiful singing voice, good common sense, and her love of chocolate! Muriel loved the Lord, loved her family and loved life!
Muriel is survived by all of her ten children, Janis Croft, Maureen (Ron) Ludlow, Sheila (Jim) Young, David (Wendy), Rosalind (Rob) Jamieson, Jonathan, Hazel Dunsmore, Andrew (Nicole), Paul (Sylvia), and Jenny Cuthbert.
