1979 ~ 2012|
While cruising the open highway, Nate was taken from us much too early doing what he loved most… riding his motorcycles. The youngest of five children, Nate was born in Salt Lake City on Sept 9, 1979 to William F (Fred) Champneys and Rebecca Backman Zabriskie. We have lost our son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend. Nathan was adored, loved and admired by everyone he met. He had spirit, drive and passion in everything he did. He served an LDS mission in Louisville, KY, an experience that helped develop his outgoing personality. Following his mission he attended MMI in Phoenix, AZ that kickstarted his passionate career as an accomplished Harley-Davidson technician for Intermountain H-D in Salt Lake and Sandy. He was living his dream. He affiliated with motorcycle riding clubs including the Latter-Day Misfits and the Harley Owners Group. His sparkling blue eyes, infectious smile and endearing character will be forever missed by his family and all who knew him.
Nate is survived by his parents, Fred (Lori), Becky (Carl), four sisters, Amy Harper, Char Wagner (Mark), Laura Alldredge (Brent), and Sarah Cronin (Ryan), step-siblings, Misty Evans (Randy), Cody Christensen, Nicole Madsen (Jared), and Ryan Zabriskie (LeAnne), grandfather, Robert Backman, and many nieces and nephews.
His viewing will be held on Tuesday, Sept 25th from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E 10600 S in Sandy. Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept 26th at 11 a.m. preceded by a viewing from 9:30 -10:45 am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery adjacent to the mortuary.
