Nona Bunderson Knighton Obituary
Nona Bunderson Knighton
1924 ~ 2013
Louisville, Colorado-Nona Bunderson Knighton passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013 in Louisville, Colorado. She was born on April 17, 1924 in Stone, Idaho to William Rudolph Bunderson and Lucy Irene Roe. Nona was a registered nurse during her brief career when she met James Barker Knighton in Ogden, Utah. They were married for time and eternity in the Logan Utah LDS temple. Their marriage was fulfilled with happy children, ten in all. James, who preceded Nona in death, Marie (Alldredge), William, Carolyn (Loveday), Katheryn (Haynie), Renae (Powell), David, Paul, Lisa (Delap), and Lynette (Fisk). Forty-three grandchildren call Nona 'grandma' along with sixty-four great-grandchildren and hundreds of non-related children who knew and loved her. Nona was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as a stake and ward relief society president as well as a temple worker for many years at the Oakland and Jordan River temples. She lived providently acting as an example to many of home economy and thrift. Nona was a wonderful cook who could earn anyone's culinary respect with her work in the kitchen, but her greatest attribute was to love others without reservation. Everyone who met Nona felt her unconditional love and left any encounter feeling better for having met her. Nona is preceded in death by her eternal husband, Jim, who left her side in 1992. She will be interred next to Jim at the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were devoted to each other and always in love. We can now celebrate their reunion in heaven never to be separated again. Family and friends are welcome to visit Monday August 5, 2013 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary at 3401 Highland Drive. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6530 Rodeo Lane, Salt Lake City, with visitation at 9:30 a.m. Rather than send flowers we simply ask that everyone treat each other with the same love and respect as Nona did.
