Olive Austin Obituary
Today Olive reunited with the love of her life, Fred Austin. Olive was born on May 22, 1928 to Marion and Lucia Defa in Bluffdale, Utah. Soon after her birth the family moved to Hunter, West Valley, where they were raised on the Defa family farm. Fred and Olive married on November 10, 1945. They lived a short time in Salt Lake City, then moved to the Hunter area where they lived out their 65 year marriage. Fred passed away on September 14, 2011. Mom then moved from her home of 50 plus years to live with her daughter, Valorie. After a brief time there she lived at the Wellington Assisted Living Center for one year and then moved to Sunrise Assisted Living Center. Olive was a very social person and thrived during her time at the assisted living centers making many dear friends. Olive taught all of us what perseverance and tenacity really is. She had many adversities to face in life and met all of the challenges head on and accomplished many things in life she didn't think she could do. Olive loved her savior, Jesus Christ and her Catholic faith. She was a member of Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Magna, Utah her entire life. Mom you taught us all by example how to love, face the challenges in life and persevere. You taught us the meaning of the words "Thank You". We love you and will miss you deeply, and we know you are reunited with dad. We are so happy for you. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Pondlin Defa, Emery Defa, Jim Defa, Alfred Defa, Henry Defa, Carole Fish and Jenny Badovinatz.
