Patricia Ann Wood|
1935 - 2013
Patricia Ann Wood passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 23, 2013. Mom was born December 17, 1935 to James and Sarah Mann. She graduated from South High School. Mom married her high school sweetheart, David T. Wood, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised 5 children.
Mom fought severe depression her whole life, but faced it head on and helped many others in their battle with depression. In her better times she had a wonderful sense of humor and was a fun-loving mother who hosted a yearly neighborhood carnival. Mom sold shoes at ZCMI for over 20 years and was the ultimate bargain hunter. She loved bowling, spending time with "the club", and was a master seamstress.
Mom was a devoted member of the LDS church and faithfully served in various callings. For many, many years, her favorite calling was as a den leader and Primary teacher to children with developmental disabilities for whom she had a deep love.
Mom was a loving and involved grandma and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren playing games and putting together puzzles.
We rejoice to know she is reunited with our Dad who passed away 20 months ago. Thanks to Highland Cove and Affinity Hospice for their loving care.
Mom is survived by her children: Jim (Barbara), Tammy, Korrey (Ann Marie) and Wendy; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Holladay 26th Ward - 4601 South Chapel Street (2565 East). Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4th at 11:00 am at the Holladay 26th Ward, with a viewing prior to services from 10:00 - 10:45 am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund in honor of her 2 grandsons serving missions.
