PATTY HOLMES Obituary

Patty Lee Holmes 1947 ~ 2010 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend left this world peacefully Tuesday, March 23, 2010 surrounded by her loved ones, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Patty was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on April 18, 1947, to Truman Hayes "Hayes" and Marjorie Lavone "Polly" Brown. She attended school in Twin Falls and graduated from the College of Southern Idaho where she was active in student government and other various student organizations. She married Terry Scott Lee on Jan. 12, 1968. Though they later divorced, they shared many years together and raised four children. On New Years' Eve 1998, while attending a church singles dance in California, a handsome, wonderful man walked up and asked her to dance. She said "yes", and that was the beginning of 10 1/2 beautiful years together. They were married on August 7, 1999 and were later sealed for time and all eternity on her birthday, April 18, 2009 in the Bountiful, Utah Temple. Patty was active in the LDS church, and as a convert, she had a deep and unwavering faith in the gospel and lived its teachings through her daily acts of kindness and service. She served faithfully in various church organizations. The calling that meant the most to her was serving as the Young Women's President during her daughters' teenage years. Mom's sweet spirit created a sanctuary of peace for those whose lives she touched. Patty loved the outdoors, especially spending time at their cabin on the lake in Montana. Many wonderful family memories were created there, including many Fourth of July celebrations with Mom's homemade chocolate ice cream bars. Her love of homemaking and endless energy spent baking homemade bread, canning, sewing us matching Christmas nightgowns and Easter dresses, holding annual Easter Egg hunts for the grandkids, painting Old World Santas, home decorating, and making Christmas candy has been a wonderful example to us as her children, leaving a beautiful legacy for us to pass on to our own children. Patty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Ferris; sister and best friend, Vicki (Jack) Stephens; four children: Shauna Cameron, Debbi (David) Young, Tricia (Cesar) Jouvin, and Michael Lee; four stepchildren: Carrie (Cisco) Almanzar, Camela (Tom) Brinegar, John (Constance) Holmes, Marnie (Dan) Call; eight grandchildren, Carson, Courtney, Madelyn, Mikey, Sayge, Brady, Madison, and Eric who will greatly miss her. Mom's smile was contagious. She had a positive attitude that carried her through a courageous 17 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Though we will miss her more than words can express, we know that she is finally free of the pain she endured for the past year and a half, and find comfort in the knowledge that we will be reunited as an eternal family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the LDS Chapel, 838 East 600 South, Clearfield, Utah, where a viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com

Many memories bring great comfort for all of us. I will always remember Patty and the great times we had together, working together in the church, working on the cookbooks and just laughing and being together. She was a great lady, friend, teacher and mother. Our prayers are with your family at this time.
