Rick Lee Rasely Obituary
July 24, 1955 ~ Oct. 7, 2013
Rick Lee Rasely, 58, of Holladay, UT, unexpectedly passed away, peacefully in his sleep, at his home on October 7, 2013.
Rick was born on July 24, 1955 in Easton, PA, to Jacob and Roberta Rasely. He was the oldest of four brothers; Randy, Jeff, and Jonathan. He graduated from Pocono Mountain High School in 1973, where he enjoyed playing in the marching band. On the slopes of the Pocono Mountains is where Rick discovered his love of snow skiing. He moved West after graduating high school to "ski and enjoy the mountains."
Anyone that has ever met Rick knew that he worked hard and played hard. He was full of passion and lived with the pedal to the metal. Time and again, he would say: "Youth is all in your mind." He certainly lived true to these words. He was well traveled and took pleasure in the finer things in life. Some of his favorite activities included: skiing, scuba diving, dirt biking, hiking, fishing, barbequing, watching movies, and entertaining with friends and family. He also enjoyed several activities at the Cottonwood Country Club, such as playing golf & tennis and laying by the pool.
Working with his hands was Rick's true passion. He was a highly respected Master Craftsman in carpentry. For over 30 years, Rick owned The Grand Stairway Company, with clients throughout the Intermountain West. His creativity and meticulous nature was reflected in his exceptional work. As he was often quoted saying to his clients: "Dreams are only limited by your imagination."
Rick's family and friends meant the world to him. He was a fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He was very thoughtful and would do anything to help others in need. His daughters, Britt and Jess, were the twinkle in his eyes, and his wife Teresa, was the smile on his face. Frequently, he would brag about how lucky he was to be surrounded by such wonderful women.
Rick is survived by his wife, Teresa Atwood; his two daughters, Brittny Vanderhoof and husband Joel, Jessica Rasely Hymel and husband Brian; three grandchildren, Natalie, Amelia, and Michael; parents; brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Wake will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Atwood-Rasely home located at 5393 S. Woodcrest Drive, Holladay, UT 84117.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Rick. Donations can be made at your local Wells Fargo Bank in the name of his wife, Teresa Atwood (c/o Rick Rasely Memorial Fund), which will be used for charities close to Rick's heart.
