Dear Ruth and Family,
I would be joining the feelings of many Davis High students in expressing our sympathy to all of you at the loss of one of our favorite teachers. The Davis High Class of 1961 will be having its 50 years reunion in two weeks. Mr. Bowen was on our special invite list and will always be remembered fondly. On a personal note, I considered Bob as one of my very best friends and will always be grateful for his assistance in helping me in my life. Diane and myself wish you comfort and peace,

Dear Ruth and family,
I have considered it a privilege to have known Bob and your family for the past
42 years. While Viewmont was my introduction to your family, Karon and I have truly enjoyed all the other opportunities to be with you. Bob will always be remembered as a gracious man with a big heart. I consider it a privilege to have worked with him. I always felt that he cared about Viewmont and the students and staff. We all felt that we were important and as a result, always tried to live up to his expectations. He was a blessing to many. May your family be comforted by the love and warmth of caring friends. I am another who learned much from Bob--but I did so as an associate/teacher at Davis High, when I was Kathy Gailey. I send deep sympathy to the family even as we recognize that he's in the best possible place now. Thanks for sharing him with so many.

Hi Family!
My thoughts and prayers are with you guys! I hope you take comfort in knowing that Bob is well again and probably enjoying a big party with all the family that has passed ahead of him.
My memories of Bob and Ruth and all the family gatherings are cherished memories. He was always great for a big smile, a tease, and a batch of sherbet. I was one of the lucky ones at school that could call him "Uncle Bob."
Bob was the best kind of family...he was Mom and Dad's best friend.
Love you all!

I had Robert for Math and as a Student Body Advisor at Davis in the 70's. He definitely had a love for students and I was one who took advantage of his "second chance" philosophy. Sorry to hear of his passing but what a full and fruitful life.

I was one of the 'second chance' kids at Viewmont. Mr. Bowen was the best. He would come into Mitchell's 76 to buy gas and talk for a long time just to see how I was doing. What a great man!

Some of my best memories of Viewmont High was sitting in Mr. Bowen's office and he helped my deal with all that I went through in school. He was always willing to help and did so often. I have and will think about him throughout my life as one of the greatest friends I had during those days. He will be missed.

Bowen Family:
I have never had the pleasure of meeting your father, husband, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, but I feel like I know him by having a next door office to his son, Bob Jr., at the Utah Division of Air Quality for many years. In reading the obituary, it is clear that Bob Sr. is a very good teacher because his son has the same admirable traits as his father. It is an honor, a privilege, and a pleasure to work with the son of Bob Sr. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Bowen Family,
What a great man Bob Bowen is and was! As one of hundreds (thousands?) of students he mentored and blessed at Davis High, I feel such gratitude this day. "Mr. Bowen" was there for me, for us, every day. His smile, his understanding, his encouraging way all helped to pull us through. He stood at the crossroads and gently guided. He was fun, thoughtful, wise--even when we painted the venerable bust of George Washington in red, white and blue stripes. He knew us and still cared! We honor him today and offer you our sorrow and real sympathy. May you find peace through the Prince of Peace. With much gratitude on behalf of all the Class of '72.

Thank you Mr. Bowen for being so easy to talk to and so interested in the success of students at Viewmont High School. You meant the world to me and many others at Viewmont.
