Romona passed from this life on June 16, 2013, at the home of her son, Alan and his wife Rhonda.
Romona was born 91 years ago in Morgan, UT, on August 27, 1921. She moved to Salt Lake City in 1925 and lived on the same street until November 2011. She was a member of the Wells Ward and Lincoln Wards during that time where she served in many positions in the Primary and Relief Society. She graduated from South High School in 1938 then attended Comptometer School and worked at the "Arms Plant" and at Fort Douglas during World War II.
While awaiting the return of her fiancé Bill from the war, she served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the "New England States Mission" in 1944 & 1945.
Romona married William Robert Ekblad on October 3, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death in 1989. Her parents, Ira Louis and Alice Eliza Strong Peterson and her brothers, Keith Maurice Peterson and Morley Dean Peterson, her sister, Phyllis Crosland and her granddaughters, Andrea Christensen and Chantel Petersen also preceded her in death.
Romona is survived by her six children; Robert Morley (Barbara) of Sandy, William Alan (Rhonda) of Kaysville, Colleen Christensen (Dale) of Magna, Marlene Beagley (David) of LaVerkin, David Lynn of Magna, and Douglas Reed (Shelley) of Salt Lake City, 28 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at the Wells Ward Chapel (1990 S. 500 E., SLC, UT) on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing held one hour prior to the service. A viewing will also be held at Goff Mortuary (8090 S. State Street, Midvale, UT) on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
