Scott Zimmerman Obituary

1945 ~ 2011
Scott Kendrick Zimmerman died on April 10, 2011 in Concord, California, of complications due to metastatic prostate cancer. He had just turned 66. Scott was born on March 22, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois, to Elizabeth Porter Zimmerman and David Albright Zimmerman. He moved with his family to Arizona in his early teens, and then to Utah where he graduated from Skyline High School in 1963. Scott served in the U.S. Army and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. Returning to Utah, he attended the University of Utah, graduating with a B.A. in Philosophy and then earning a J.D. from the College of Law in 1974. He was one of the founders of the law firm of Kruse, Landa, Zimmerman Maycock where he practiced law until 1983, when he moved to California. In California, Scott had a law practice in Brentwood, a small town in the Sacramento River Delta, for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Lujan Zimmerman, a son, Walter, two daughters, Samantha and Chelsea, three stepchildren, Cindy Martinelli, Shannon (Adrian) Lopez, and Anthony Lujan, two foster daughters, Reina Popete and Gabriella Engena, a grandson, Logan Weiss, and a step-granddaughter, Delilah. He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth ("Bette") Zimmerman, his uncle, George Henry Zimmerman, his brother, Michael David (Diane Hamilton) Zimmerman, his sister, Gretchen Lynne (Jack) Leenaarts, and his nieces, Evangeline Albright Zimmerman (Beau) Burbidge, Alessandra Mariani Zimmerman, Morgan Elisabeth Zimmerman, Meaghan Leenaarts (Jason) Beasley, and his step-nephew, William Hamilton Smith, and his cousins, Carol Porter (James) Patton, Kevin Porter, and Edwin Kendrick Porter III.
Scott lived life large, enjoying family, friends, cars, motorcycles, and his work. He will be missed.
A gathering to celebrate Scott's life will be held at the Alta Club, 100 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, on Friday, October 7th from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. All those who knew him fondly are invited to come, renew old acquaintances, and share their memories of Scott.
