West Valley City, UT-Salt Lake City, UT-Tom passed away from complications of COPD and Emphysema on Monday, June 4, 2018 while at home with his best friend/ granddaughter Abi by his side. Tom, 77, was born on March 29, 1941 in Tremonton, Utah to Ellis W Maxwell and Delores "Gracie" Shiner. They later moved to Salt Lake City where he graduated from South High School. He met and married his soulmate and love of his life Lorane "Animal". They were married for 33 years prior to her death in 2014. He has three brothers and two sisters- William (Salt Lake City), Phillip and Sandy (Ogden), and Susan Langston (West Jordan). Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister Shirley Orgill, and his best friend/brother Robert (Bob)." Tom is a father by choice and it was shown by his unconditional love. He is survived by his daughters, Mandy (Steve) and their children Abi, Caden, and Mason; Tamra and her children; Joey, Travis, Tera and 8 grandchildren; and Deonne; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was an amazing man. He had a love for people and a true love for his animals, especially his dogs Barkley, Mimzi, and Jade, his bird Gizmo and many Koi fish. Tom loved maintaining a beautiful lawn and garden. His tomatoes were the highlight of his summer. He had a passion for all sports, especially the Utah Jazz. He never missed an opportunity to attend his nephews ball games. Tom retired from Swire Coca-Cola after working there for many years. He had many friends and made great memories at Coke while setting up for special events from Jazz games, to concerts, to the Utah State Fair and many others. He also made many friends while he was the owner of the Indigo. Although he wasn't active in the church, he welcomed and enjoyed visits from the home teachers and loved taking the missionaries out to dinner. Funeral services will be held on June 9 at Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah 84117 at 1:30 PM with a viewing starting at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
