Kerry Clifton Cottrell "Kase" 'Gone Fishing' Kerry Clifton Cottrell, 60, was called home on June 14, 2010 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born September 11, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah as the son of Jay Hemsley Cottrell and Helen Louise Middlemas. He graduated from Skyline High School, then served in the Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. He married Jolene Foster, later divorced. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kase loved his home in Summit Park and never tired of telling how great it was living there. He will be remembered as a friend to all, generous with his time and always willing to help in any way he could. Kase was a licensed barber and had his own shop called the "Blue Max" in earlier years. With his friend, Clark Wright, he participated in trade shows demonstrating and selling various products. He also owned rental property and was an active landlord at the time of his death. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Penrose (Chuck), and Vickie Summerhays (Steven); and a half-sister, Brigitte Maddox (Troy); stepfather, Jim Schuchert (Ching); and many nephews and nieces. Kase was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald. Many thanks to the excellent caregivers from the Veterans Administration facilities and the Huntsman Cancer center. Also a special thanks to his hospice nurse, Dana Travis, who not only gave wonderful care but became a close friend to Kase during his months of treatment. Many thanks also to his good friends, Clark Wright, Alan Satterfield and Jim Edmunds for being there for him in his time of need. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale. www.goffmortuary.com
