1932 ~ 2013
Norman D. Nuttall was born September 7, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Quentin Glen and Ida Corbett Nuttall. He passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Norm spent his childhood in Logan, Utah where he developed a great love for the outdoors. In 1951, he graduated from Logan High School where he participated in football and tennis. He graduated from Utah State University in 1955. While at Utah State he affiliated with Sigma Nu Fraternity, was on the ski team and the tennis team. Following graduation, he married Sandra 'Sally' Anderson in Ogden, Utah on June 6, 1955. He then served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army as a missile specialist stationed in San Francisco, California. At the very end of his military service his daughter Tracy was born, followed by a son, Scott, and a daughter, Lezlie.
Norm's early career was shaped by his employment with the Singer Sewing Machine Company where he learned everything necessary for him to start his own sewing machine business. As an entrepreneur at heart, Norm started Nuttall Sewing Center in 1968 selling Bernina sewing machines. Through his strong work ethic, optimism and good fortune, Nuttall Sewing Center became the largest Bernina Dealer in the world.
Norm always had a passion to be the best at everything he did and he usually succeeded. He loved skiing, sailboat racing on Sally 2, riding his Missouri Fox Trotters, hunting, and in his later years, golfing. He was the greatest grandpa and dad. He always had a fun adventure for his family whether it was skiing, sailing, golfing or horseback riding. He and Sal spent winters in Mesquite, Nevada for the last ten years where he made lifelong friends.
Norm is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra, whom he affectionately called 'Sally San', his three children, Tracy Velasquez (Enrique), Scott Nuttall (Marsha) and Lezlie Paterson (Robert), ten grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; Mark, Max, Andra, Aubree, Alex, Quinten, Jake, Jasmine, Blake, Holly, Carlos and Victoria, and three great-grandsons; Luke, Emerson and Brody, his sister Anna Lue Williams and his brother Frank Q. Nuttall. He was preceded in death by his parents.
We would like to offer a special thanks to Robby Page at South Davis Hospice for his expert care and guidance.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends and family may visit one hour prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.

Sandy, although we are not sure you will remember us we were your neighbors in Mesquite quite some time ago. We want to extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of Norm. Although we only knew him for a short time he was such a cheerful, helpful and overall 'great guy' and we have some enjoyable memories. Steve, in particular, remembers his boat/fishing trips with Norm on Lake Mead and I remember the day he told me to drive the boat out of the break water while you were all baiting hooks - how scared I was (as I had never driven a boat) but with Norm's faith in me I did it... Our condolences to you and your family.

Our condolances to the Nuttle Family,
We knew Norman through our Grandmother Lois Anderson. She worked for Norman at Singer Sewing Company. I remember what a kind man he was. Grandma worked there for many years and always spoke highly of Norman.

Dear Nuttall Family,
I am deeply saddened to read of Norm's passing. He was a true gentleman, always humble and gracious, and a good friend during our days in the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club in the 70s and 80s. I personally benefitted from his sage advice which I sometimes solicited during my multi-year tenure on the GSLYC board of directors, especially so while I served two terms as Commodore. Norm was always very helpful to me and others in the organization as well as being an excellent tactical sailor and skipper. I have no doubt that he is still leading the fleet to the finish line. I am so very sorry for your loss.

You will be greatly missed, Uncle Norm. But the memories of the many kindnesses and good times you shared with me and everyone who knew you live on. I feel blessed to have had you in my life.

Condolences to the Nuttall Family,
I am sorry to hear of Norm's passing. Jewel died just last month and has been ill for over a year. I tell you this because we wanted to come and visit you. Jewel expressed that desire several times. But her health prevented us from doing it. Please know of our love for each of you. I pray you will be blessed with comfort and peace. I remember with fondness our years as your neighbors in Bountiful.
