June Lavina Swanson Bennion Burningham, 92, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2014, of causes incident to age. She was born June 24, 1921, to Arthur E. and Ida Dahl Swanson, in Crescent, Utah. She married Samuel H. Bennion on February 6, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died September 13, 1976. She married L. Ross Burningham October 19, 1983. He died December 19, 2011. She worked as a Librarian at Murray High School. She loved to travel and was able to see much of the world. Her interests included sewing, knitting, her Bingo club, and hosting family get-togethers. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Murray Utah Fireman's Auxiliary. She had a special gift of being able to adjust to whatever circumstances came her way with dignity and grace. She was a good listener and we will miss her sound insight and wise counsel. Survived by her children Carol (Larry) Richardson, Robert (Sandi) Bennion, Jim (Margaret) Bennion, Gary (Karyl) Bennion and step children David (Diane) Burningham, Karen (Sid) Smart, Janice (Tenney) Clawson, David Leak; 25 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husbands, Sam and Ross; granddaughters, Lee Ann Richardson and Julia Bond; brother, Brigham Swanson; and stepdaughter, Merlene Leak. The family would like to thank the staff and aides at Canyon Creek Assisted Living for their tender care.
A funeral will be held 11:00 am., Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening and 10-10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
